Supporting operating system versions including Mac OS X 10.4.9 (Tiger) and higher, the latest Office 2008 for Mac update requires Microsoft Office 2008 for Mac Service Pack 2 (12.2.0). Users can download this update for free from Microsoft’s web site. To verify that you have installed this update, you can check the version number by opening any Microsoft Office 2008 application.
To install the Microsoft Office 2008 for Mac 12.2.1, it is advised that you quit any running programs, including all Office applications, Microsoft Messenger, and Office Notifications, because, Microsoft says, “they might interfere with the installation.” Additionally, users must ensure that their computer meets the minimum system requirements. At this point, simply download the software, double click the downloaded “Office2008-1221UpdateEN.dmg” file and then the resulted application installer (pictured above).
